Pārvatī’s Discourse: Establishing Śiva as Parabrahman
Parvati (Girija)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Frames śiva-nindā as a binding force (pāśa) that drags the community into adharma; the remedy is saṅga-tyāga and restraint—key Śaiva ethical disciplines supporting liberation.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse warns that śiva-nindā (slandering Śiva) is a grave spiritual offense that blocks bhakti and right understanding; therefore, one should prevent or avoid the company of those intent on such negativity.
Linga-worship is grounded in reverence for Saguna Śiva as the compassionate Lord; this verse emphasizes protecting that sanctity by not tolerating speech that demeans Śiva, which undermines devotion and the merit of worship.
The practical takeaway is to maintain śuddha-saṅga (pure company) and steady japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to keep the mind from quarrel and from participating in or hearing Śiva-nindā.
