शिवोवाच । हे तात शृणु मद्वाक्यं द्वारपालो भवाद्य मे । मत्पुत्रस्त्वं मदीयोऽसि नान्यथा कश्चिदस्ति मे
śivovāca | he tāta śṛṇu madvākyaṃ dvārapālo bhavādya me | matputrastvaṃ madīyo'si nānyathā kaścidasti me
Śiva phán: “Con yêu, hãy nghe lời Ta. Từ hôm nay, con hãy làm người giữ cổng cho Ta. Con là con trai của Ta; con thuộc về Ta—đối với Ta, không ai sánh bằng con.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
The verse highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): He personally accepts the devotee as “mine” and assigns sacred service, showing that nearness to Pati (Śiva) is attained through devotion, obedience, and belonging to Him.
As Saguna Śiva speaks directly and appoints a guardian, it reflects personal relationship and service (sevā-bhāva) toward the manifest Lord—paralleling temple/Liṅga worship where guarding, serving, and honoring Śiva’s abode are devotional acts.
The takeaway is sevā and niṣṭhā: adopt a disciplined daily practice of Śiva-upāsanā—recite the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), maintain purity and reverence like a “guardian” of the mind’s doorway, and offer regular temple-style service (dīpa, naivedya, or simple water offering) with devotion.
