Sūta Gosvāmī (traditional Purāṇic colophon closure addressed to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the completion of the Gaṇeśa-manifestation chapter; not a jyotirliṅga episode.
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it signals a transition and invites the listener to retain the teaching—here, the sacred account of Gaṇeśa’s manifestation under Śiva’s overarching sovereignty (Pati) as upheld in Shaiva tradition.
By situating Gaṇeśa’s origin within the Rudra Saṃhitā, it frames Gaṇeśa’s role as integrated into Saguna Śiva’s divine order—devotional worship proceeds with Śiva as the supreme Lord, and Gaṇeśa as a revered attendant/deity whose grace supports auspicious beginnings in Śaiva practice.
As a chapter-ending marker, it suggests reflective recitation (śravaṇa–manana) of the narrative; in practice, devotees commonly begin Śaiva rites with Gaṇeśa-vandana, followed by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and, where traditional, application of tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and wearing rudrākṣa.
