Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasa Samhita’s ritual teaching to the sages)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It sanctifies bhasma as a sacred remainder of disciplined worship: the ash signifies the burning away of mala (impurity) and attachment, guiding the pashu toward the Pati (Shiva) through purified conduct.
In Saguna Shiva worship, homa supports linga-puja by offering into consecrated fire; the resulting bhasma is preserved as Shiva’s grace-bearing sign and later applied as Tripundra, reinforcing devotion and remembrance of Shiva.
Complete the homa properly, then collect and safeguard the bhasma (vibhuti) for sacred use—especially for Tripundra application and as a purity aid alongside mantra-japa such as the Panchakshara.
