Sukta 7.97

Rishi: Vasiṣṭha (Vasiṣṭha-gotra tradition for Maṇḍala 7; hymn to Bṛhaspati/Brāhmaṇaspati)
Devata: Bṛhaspati / Brāhmaṇaspati (with a relational horizon that includes Indra as allied power in the hymn)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (11-syllable pādas; typical for Maṇḍala 7 praise/invocation)

आ दैव्या वृणीमहेऽवांसि बृहस्पतिर्नो मह आ सखायः । यथा भवेम मीळ्हुषे अनागा यो नो दाता परावतः पितेव ॥

ā daivyā́ vṛṇīmahe’vā́ṃsi bṛ́haspátir no mahá ā́ sakhāyaḥ | yáthā bhávema mīḷhúṣe ánāgā yó no dātā́ parāvátaḥ pitā́iva ||

Chúng con tuyển chọn và thỉnh mời những trợ lực thiêng liêng đến với mình; nguyện Bṛhaspati, người Bạn hùng mạnh của chúng con, đến gần—để chúng con trở nên vô lỗi trước Đấng ban phát rộng lượng, Đấng từ cõi xa thẳm ban cho chúng con như người cha.
