The Arrival of Janaka’s Messengers in Ayodhya
O Indra among kings! you will not only bring me pleasure, you will also be happy to see your sons.
Dharma creates shared welfare: righteous action (a properly sanctioned marriage alliance) brings joy not only to one party but to both families and kingdoms.
Janaka reassures Daśaratha that coming to Mithilā and consenting to the alliance will benefit both—Janaka’s fulfillment and Daśaratha’s happiness regarding his sons.
Goodwill and diplomatic graciousness—Janaka speaks in a way that honors Daśaratha and emphasizes mutual benefit under dharma.
