Visvamitra and Vasistha: Contest of Divine Weapons
निगृहीतस्त्वया ब्रह्मन् विश्वामित्रो महातपा:।प्रसीद जपतां श्रेष्ठ लोकास्सन्तु गतव्यथा:।।।।
nigṛhītas tvayā brahman viśvāmitro mahātapāḥ |
prasīda japatāṃ śreṣṭha lokāḥ santu gatavyathāḥ ||
“Bạch Bà-la-môn, đại khổ hạnh Viśvāmitra đã bị Ngài chế phục. Xin Ngài hoan hỷ, ô bậc tối thượng trong những người chuyên trì tụng (japa); nguyện cho các thế giới được lìa mọi khổ não.”
O mean kshatriya! where does your energy of a kshatriya stand in comparison with the great energy of Brahma? Behold my Brahmabala (Brahman's energy)".
Dharma requires compassion after victory; the purpose of restraint is the welfare of the worlds, not the humiliation of an opponent.
The sages acknowledge Viśvāmitra’s defeat and ask Vasiṣṭha to calm down so cosmic order and peace are restored.
Dayā (mercy) joined with self-control—ending conflict without further harm.
