Entry toward Viśālā and the Indra–Kṣīrodamathana Legend
अथ देवा महादेवं शङ्करं शरणार्थिन:।जग्मु: पशुपतिं रुद्रं त्राहि त्राहीति तुष्टुवु:।।।।
atha devā mahādevaṃ śaṅkaraṃ śaraṇārthinaḥ | jagmuḥ paśupatiṃ rudraṃ trāhi trāhīti tuṣṭuvuḥ ||
Bấy giờ, chư thiên cầu nơi nương tựa liền đến với Mahādeva—Śaṅkara, Rudra, Paśupati, Chúa tể muôn loài—và tán thán Ngài, kêu rằng: “Xin cứu chúng con, xin cứu chúng con!”
The devatas sought refuge in the great god Rudra who causes happiness, the Lord of all living beings. 'Save us, Save us', the cried.
Śaraṇāgati is dharmic: when overwhelmed by harm, one should seek refuge in the rightful protector rather than act in panic or pride.
The gods, endangered by Hālāhala, approach Rudra/Śiva and plead for rescue.
Humility and discernment: recognizing who can truly protect and approaching with sincere supplication.
