मतिमपि च जनानां यो ददातीन्द्रलोके । स वसति विबुधौघैः पूज्यते कल्पमेकम् । भीष्म उवाच । भगवन्श्रोतुमिच्छामि दानमाहात्म्यमुत्तमम्
matimapi ca janānāṃ yo dadātīndraloke | sa vasati vibudhaughaiḥ pūjyate kalpamekam | bhīṣma uvāca | bhagavanśrotumicchāmi dānamāhātmyamuttamam
Ai ban cho người đời sự hiểu biết thì đạt đến cõi Indra; tại đó người ấy an trú trọn một kiếp, được đoàn thể chư thiên tôn kính. Bhīṣma thưa: “Bạch Bhagavan, con muốn được nghe sự vĩ đại tối thượng của hạnh bố thí.”
