FAQs

It is a religious observance associated with Vināyaka (Gaṇeśa), characterized here by a Caturthī-related night-fast and a seasonal gift (dāna), said to yield the merit of reaching Śiva’s realm.

The verse links the vow to a particular season (Hemanta) and prescribes a specific dāna—goyuga (a pair of cows)—as the meritorious act completing the observance, emphasizing disciplined timing and charitable giving.

It teaches that spiritual aims are pursued through self-restraint (fasting/regulated eating) and generosity (dāna), presenting disciplined practice and charity as a path to exalted spiritual results.
