Mārkaṇḍeya-varṇanam
The Description of Mārkaṇḍeya
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse highlights that the Lord (Hari) may preserve a devotee’s life and circumstances to “make him known” as a visible testimony to Viṣṇu-bhakti and divine grace.
It presents bhakti as the defining quality of the saintly figure—“endowed with devotion to Viṣṇu”—implying that steadfast devotion itself becomes the reason for divine intervention and the devotee’s exemplary fame.
No specific Vedāṅga technique (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa ritual procedure) is taught in this line; the practical takeaway is devotional conduct (ācāra) as the lived application of dharma.
