Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa

एकवारं गते ह्यब्दंव्रतं कृत्वा विशुद्ध्यति । दिनत्रये गते वह्निदग्धः शुध्येत नान्यथा ॥ ६७ ॥

ekavāraṃ gate hyabdaṃvrataṃ kṛtvā viśuddhyati | dinatraye gate vahnidagdhaḥ śudhyeta nānyathā || 67 ||

Quả thực, bằng cách thực hiện lời thề trong một năm, ngay cả khi chỉ thực hiện một lần, người ta sẽ trở nên thanh tịnh. Nhưng người đã bị lửa thiêu đốt chỉ trở nên trong sạch sau khi ba ngày trôi qua—không có cách nào khác.
