Ekādaśī Vrata-Vidhi and the Galava–Bhadrashīla Itihāsa
Dharmakīrti before Yama
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It establishes the authority of the coming teaching as direct experience (anubhava) supported by jātismara (memory of a prior birth), introducing Yama as a reliable voice on karma and dharma.
Bhakti is not stated directly here; the verse sets up an instructive narrative framework where Yama’s counsel typically reinforces righteous living and remembrance of the Divine as protection against fearful post-death consequences.
No specific Vedāṅga is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is epistemic—knowledge grounded in direct experience (anubhūta) and reliable testimony (what Yama declared) to guide dharmic conduct.
