Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
करिष्येऽहं महालक्ष्मीव्रतं ते त्वत्परायणः । तदविघ्नेन मे यातु समाप्तिं त्वत्प्रसादतः ॥ ५५ ॥
kariṣye'haṃ mahālakṣmīvrataṃ te tvatparāyaṇaḥ | tadavighnena me yātu samāptiṃ tvatprasādataḥ || 55 ||
Con xin thực hành Mahālakṣmī-vrata của Ngài, một lòng nương tựa nơi Ngài. Nhờ ân sủng của Ngài, xin cho con được viên mãn trọn vẹn, không gặp chướng ngại nào.
Narrative voice within the Narada Purana (a devotee speaking to Mahalakshmi)
Vrata: Mahālakṣmī-vrata
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames vrata as an act of surrender: the devotee commits to Mahālakṣmī’s observance and seeks her anugraha so the vow culminates in “samāpti” (successful completion) free from vighnas (hindrances).
Bhakti appears through “tvat-parāyaṇaḥ”—taking the deity as sole refuge—showing that ritual observance is meant to be supported by heartfelt dependence on divine grace rather than mere external performance.
The verse emphasizes ritual discipline (vrata) and the standard prayoga of seeking “avighna” and “samāpti,” a practical principle of kalpa-style observance: begin with sankalpa and rely on deva-prasāda for completion.
