Adhyaya 52 — The Manifestation of Nilalohita (Rudra) and the Allocation of His Names, Abodes, Consorts, and Lineages
The verse explicitly frames genealogy as ‘saṃkīrtana’—a disciplined recitation. It reflects the dharmic idea that memory/tradition (Smṛti) is generative: it ‘gives birth’ to structured knowledge and social continuity.
Vaṁśa: a formal transition marker within a lineage catalogue.
Smṛti personified as a mother implies that lived tradition is a womb for culture and dharma; revelation (śruti) is sustained through remembered practice (smṛti).
