सहदेवस्य गोसंख्य-तन्तिपाल-रूपेण विराट-समागमः | Sahadeva’s Audience with Virāṭa as Cattle-Enumerator

Tantipāla

देवकन्या भुजज्जी वा नगरस्याथ देवता । विद्याधरी किन्नरी वा यदि वा रोहिणी स्वयम्‌,कल्याणी! बताओ, तुम वास्तवमें कौन हो? दासी तो तुम किसी प्रकार भी नहीं हो सकतीं। तुम यक्षी हो या देवी? गन्धर्वकन्या हो या अप्सरा? देवकन्या हो या नागकन्या? अथवा इस नगरकी अधिष्ठात्री देवी तो नहीं हो? विद्याधरी, किन्नरी या साक्षात्‌ चन्द्रदेवकी पत्नी रोहिणी तो नहीं हो?

devakanyā bhujaggī vā nagarasyātha devatā | vidyādharī kinnarī vā yadi vā rohiṇī svayam | kalyāṇī brūhi tvaṁ satyaṁ tvaṁ kaḥ khalu bhaviṣyasi | dāsī tvam asi naivātra yathā kathaṁcana ||

Vaiśampāyana nói: “Nàng là tiên nữ cõi trời hay là thiếu nữ Nāga? Hay chính là nữ thần hộ thành của đô thị này? Nàng là Vidyādharī, là Kinnarī, hay Rohiṇī đích thân? Thưa người nữ cát tường, hãy nói thật—rốt cuộc nàng là ai? Nàng tuyệt chẳng thể chỉ là kẻ hầu hạ.”
