Educational Q&A

The verse presents an ethical ideal of household life: a wife’s service arises from joy and respect, while the husband responds with genuine affection. Dharma here is not one-sided duty but mutual regard that sustains harmony.

Lopāmudrā, pleased and honoring her husband, attends upon Agastya. Agastya, though a powerful ascetic, reciprocates by showing great love toward her, indicating a balanced marital relationship.
