kunty uvāca yadi putro mama bhavet tvattaḥ sarvatamonuda | kuṇḍalī kavacī śūro mahābāhur mahābalaḥ ||
Kuntī thưa: “Ôi Sūrya, đấng xua tan mọi bóng tối—nếu con có một người con bởi Ngài, xin cho nó là dũng sĩ chiến binh, đeo khuyên tai và mặc giáp, cánh tay hùng mạnh và sức lực phi thường.”
सूर्य उवाच

Kuntī addresses Sūrya with reverence and states her wish: if she is to have a son through him, he should be born a great hero, naturally adorned with earrings and armor—traits that foreshadow the extraordinary warrior later known for these marks.
