Sāvitrī’s Trirātra-Vrata and Departure with Satyavān (सावित्रीव्रतनिश्चयः सहगमनं च)
मा विषीद नरव्याप्र नैष कश्रिन्मयि स्थिते | छिन्ध्यस्य दक्षिणं बाहुं छिन्न: सव्यो मया भुज:,“नरश्रेष्ठी तुम खेद न करो। मेरे रहते यह राक्षस कोई चीज नहीं है; इससे तुम्हें कोई हानि नहीं पहुँच सकती। तुम इसकी दाहिनी बाँह काट डालो। मैं बायीं भुजा काट रहा हूँ!
mā viṣīda naravyāghra naiṣa kaścin mayi sthite | chindhy asya dakṣiṇaṃ bāhuṃ chinnaḥ savyo mayā bhujaḥ ||
Mārkaṇḍeya nói: “Chớ sầu muộn, hỡi hổ giữa loài người. Khi ta còn đứng đây, rākṣasa này chẳng là gì; nó không thể làm hại ngươi. Hãy chém đứt cánh tay phải của nó—cánh tay trái đã bị ta chặt rồi.”
