Indradyumna Upākhyāna: On Kīrti, Smṛti, and Restoration

मही म्लेच्छजनाकीर्णा भविष्यति ततो<5चिरात्‌ । करभारभयाद्‌ विप्रा भजिष्यन्ति दिशो दश,सारी पृथ्वी थोड़े ही समयमें म्लेच्छोंसे भर जायगी। ब्राह्मणलोग करोंके भारसे भयभीत होकर दसों दिशाओंकी शरण लेंगे

māhī mlecchajanākīrṇā bhaviṣyati tato 'cirāt | karabhārabhayād viprā bhajiṣyanti diśo daśa ||

Mārkaṇḍeya nói: “Chẳng bao lâu nữa, mặt đất sẽ chật kín những mleccha (người ngoại bang hay phi Veda). Khiếp sợ gánh nặng thuế khóa đè nát, các brāhmaṇa sẽ bỏ nhà cửa mà tản đi, tìm nơi nương náu khắp mười phương.”

The verse warns that when rulers impose oppressive taxation and fail to protect dharma, society destabilizes: the learned and dharma-oriented people are forced into flight, and the land becomes dominated by groups seen as outside the prevailing moral-ritual order.

Mārkaṇḍeya is describing future degeneration (a prophetic, Kali-age style forecast): the earth will soon be overrun by mlecchas, and brāhmaṇas, frightened by heavy taxes, will scatter in all directions seeking safety.
