Educational Q&A

Past actions and the words of sages can bind one through a śāpa (curse), yet release may come through rightful effort and dharmic strength; here, Bhīma’s kṣatriya prowess becomes the instrument of liberation, showing that power aligned with duty can undo affliction.

Dhaneshvara explains to King Yudhiṣṭhira that he had earlier been cursed by a great sage (understood as Agastya), and that this very curse has now been removed through Yudhiṣṭhira’s brother Bhīmasena.
