इन्द्रस्य दुःखप्राप्तिः—त्रिशिरोवधः, वृत्रोत्पत्तिः, जृम्भिकाजननम्

वेदानेकेन सो5धीते सुरामेकेन चापिबत्‌ । एकेन च दिश: सर्वा: पिबन्निव निरीक्षते

vedānekēna so 'dhīte surām ekēna cāpibat | ekena ca diśaḥ sarvāḥ pibann iva nirīkṣate |

Śalya nói: “Với một miệng, nó tụng đọc Veda; với một miệng khác, nó uống rượu; và với miệng còn lại, nó nhìn chằm chằm khắp bốn phương như thể muốn uống cạn cả các hướng.” Câu ấy vẽ nên một chân dung chướng tai gai mắt: vẻ ngoài học đạo thiêng liêng đặt cạnh sự buông thả và lòng tham nuốt chửng—gợi lên sự giả trá và dục vọng không kềm chế, chứ không phải kỷ luật chân chính.
