Kuntī–Karṇa Saṃvāda: Lineage Disclosure and Appeal to Fraternal Dharma
अतिष्ठत् सूर्यतापार्ता कर्णस्योत्तरवाससि । कौरव्यपत्नी वार्ष्णेयी पद्ममालेव शुष्यती
atiṣṭhat sūryatāpārtā karṇasyottaravāsasi | kauravyapatnī vārṣṇeyī padmamālevā śuṣyatī ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: Bị hành hạ bởi sức nóng mặt trời, Kuntī—vợ của Pāṇḍu, người thuộc dòng Vṛṣṇi và cũng là nàng dâu có mối ràng buộc với nhà Kaurava—đứng trong bóng chiếc áo choàng trên của Karṇa, héo rũ như một tràng hoa sen. Cảnh ấy gợi sức nặng của giờ phút: người mẹ vừa kiệt sức thân xác vừa nặng lòng, tìm chút che chở ngay nơi kẻ có số phận gắn chặt với cuộc chiến sắp tới.
