शत्रुं कृत्वा यः सहायं विश्वासमुपगच्छति । स न सम्भाव्यमेवैतद् यद् राज्यं प्राप्रुयादिति,जो शत्रुको सहायक बनाकर उसका विश्वास करता है, वह राज्य प्राप्त कर लेगा, इसकी कभी सम्भावना ही नहीं करनी चाहिये
śatruṁ kṛtvā yaḥ sahāyaṁ viśvāsam upagacchati | sa na sambhāvyam evaitad yad rājyaṁ prāpnuyād iti ||
Kẻ biến kẻ thù thành đồng minh rồi lại đặt trọn niềm tin nơi hắn, thì chớ nên dù chỉ nuôi một tia hy vọng rằng mình sẽ đạt được vương quyền. Niềm tin dựng trên thù hằn là điều sai trái cả về đạo lý lẫn chính trị, và không thể làm nền tảng cho một nền trị vì bền vững.
