Vidurā–Putra Saṃvāda: Utsāha, Kīrti, and Kṣātra Resolve
Udyoga-parva 131
The verse teaches restraint and non-attachment: even the offer of sovereignty over the whole earth, coming from a powerful deity of wealth, may be refused by a dharmic ruler who prioritizes inner discipline and rightful conduct over acquisition.
Vāyu recounts an earlier episode: Kubera (Vaiśravaṇa), pleased with the royal sage Mucukunda, offered him the entire earth, but Mucukunda declined to accept it—presented as an example of exemplary self-control and dharmic choice.
