Gālava’s Eastern Ascent with Garuḍa; Counsel on Kāla and Upāya (उद्योगपर्व, अध्याय ११०)
अस्यां दिशि वरिष्ठायामुत्तरायां द्विजर्षभ । नासौम्यो नाविधेयात्मा नाधर्मो वसते जन:
asyāṁ diśi variṣṭhāyām uttarāyāṁ dvijarṣabha | nāsaumyo nāvidheyātmā nādharmo vasate janaḥ ||
“Hỡi bậc ưu tú trong hàng lưỡng sinh, tại phương Bắc tối thắng này—nổi danh bởi phẩm giá—không có ai cư ngụ mà không hiền hòa, không chế ngự được tâm, hay không nương theo dharma. Đó là phương gắn với sự tự chế và hạnh chính, chứ không thuộc về thô bạo, phóng túng hay vô đạo.”
