Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)
भारताध्ययनात् पुण्यादपि पादमधीयत: । श्रद्धया परया भक्त्या श्राव्यते चापि येन तु
bhāratādhyayanāt puṇyād api pādam adhīyataḥ | śraddhayā parayā bhaktyā śrāvyate cāpi yena tu ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: Dẫu chỉ học một phần tư của một câu kệ, công đức cũng vượt hơn việc học trọn bộ Bhārata. Ai với lòng tin tối thượng và sự sùng kính mà lắng nghe—hoặc khiến người khác tụng đọc cho nghe—sẽ nhận trọn quả báo của việc học Mahābhārata, và nhờ chính năng lực ấy mà đạt thành tựu tâm linh tối thượng.
