प्रद्धिष्टस्य कुत: श्रेयो नाप्रियो लभते फलम् | वत्सौपम्येन दोग्धव्यं राष्ट्रमक्षीणबुद्धिना
praddhiṣṭasya kutaḥ śreyo nāpriyo labhate phalam | vatsaupamyena dogdhavyaṃ rāṣṭram akṣīṇabuddhinā ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Kẻ bị muôn người căm ghét thì làm sao có phúc lợi? Một bậc cầm quyền không được dân yêu mến sẽ chẳng thu được lợi ích chân thật. Vì vậy, nhà vua còn giữ được sự phán đoán sáng suốt phải rút lấy sự nuôi sống từ quốc độ một cách êm dịu, dần dần—như bê con bú sữa mẹ—để vương quốc không bị tổn hại và mối gắn bó với thần dân được gìn giữ.”
