Rājadharma’s ‘Essence’: Protection, Punishment, Intelligence, and Royal Diligence
राज्यं सर्वामिषं नित्यमार्जवेनेह धार्यते | तस्मान्मिश्रेण सततं वर्तितव्यं युधिष्ठिर
bhīṣma uvāca | rājyaṃ sarvāmīṣaṃ nityam ārjavenaiha dhāryate | tasmān miśreṇa satataṃ vartitavyaṃ yudhiṣṭhira |
Bhīṣma nói: “Vương quyền luôn là đối tượng mà mọi người ham muốn và thèm khát; ở đời này, nó chỉ có thể được duy trì bằng sự ngay thẳng và liêm chính. Vì vậy, hỡi Yudhiṣṭhira, bậc quân vương phải luôn hành xử với sự pha trộn đúng mực—kết hợp sự cứng rắn và nghiêm khắc với lòng dịu dàng và từ bi.”
