Chapter 57: Constant Royal Vigilance, Primacy of Protection, and Principles of Dismissal
सर्वाभिशड्की नृपतिर्यश्व सर्वहरो भवेत् । स क्षिप्रमनजुर्लुब्ध: स्वजनेनैव बध्यते
sarvābhiśaṅkī nṛpatir yaś ca sarvaharo bhavet | sa kṣipram anṛjur lubdhaḥ svajanenaiva badhyate ||
Bhishma nói: Một vị vua nghi kỵ mọi người và trở thành kẻ cướp đoạt của tất cả—tước lấy của cải và quyền lợi của thần dân—thì kẻ cai trị tham lam, gian trá ấy sẽ nhanh chóng bị chính dân mình kiềm chế và lật đổ. Lời dạy là: trị nước dựa trên ngờ vực và tịch thu sẽ hủy hoại chính danh; và sự sụp đổ của nhà vua nảy sinh từ cộng đồng mà ông đã làm hại.
