Nārāyaṇasya Guhya-nāmāni Niruktāni (Etymologies of Nārāyaṇa’s Secret Epithets) / नारायणस्य गुह्यनामानि निरुक्तानि

सक्तस्य बुद्धिश्बलति मोहजालविवर्धनी । मोहजालावृतो दुःखमिह चामुत्र सो5श्लुते

saktasya buddhir balati mohajālavivardhanī | mohajālāvṛto duḥkham iha cāmutra so 'śnute ||

Nārada nói: “Khi một người đắm nhiễm các đối tượng giác quan, trí tuệ của người ấy trở nên dao động và chỉ làm tăng thêm lưới mê. Bị tấm lưới mê ấy trùm phủ và trói buộc, người ấy chịu khổ—cả ở đời này lẫn đời sau.”

Attachment to sense-objects destabilizes discernment (buddhi) and expands delusion (moha). A person trapped in this delusion inevitably reaps suffering both in present life and in the afterlife; therefore, restraint and detachment are essential for dharmic living.

In Śānti Parva’s instructional discourse, Nārada speaks as a spiritual teacher, warning about the psychological and karmic consequences of sense-attachment: it clouds judgment, deepens भ्रम (delusion), and leads to दुःख across worldly and post-worldly states.
