Nārāyaṇasya Guhya-nāmāni Niruktāni (Etymologies of Nārāyaṇa’s Secret Epithets) / नारायणस्य गुह्यनामानि निरुक्तानि

मानुष्यमसुखं प्राप्प य: सज्जति स मुहाृति । नालं स दुःखमोक्षाय संयोगो दुःखलक्षणम्‌

mānuṣyam asukhaṁ prāpya yaḥ sajjati sa muhyati | nālaṁ sa duḥkhamokṣāya saṁyogo duḥkhalakṣaṇaḥ ||

Nārada nói: “Đã được thân người—vốn thường thiếu vắng hạnh phúc chân thật—ai còn đắm nhiễm các đối tượng giác quan thì rơi vào mê lầm. Sự tiếp xúc với các đối tượng tự nó mang dấu ấn khổ đau; vì thế, nó không đủ để giải thoát khỏi sầu khổ.”

Human life is easily wasted in attachment; sense-contact (saṁyoga) is inherently bound up with suffering, so liberation from sorrow requires detachment and a higher pursuit than enjoyment of objects.

In the didactic discourse of Śānti Parva, Nārada instructs the listener by warning that attachment to worldly objects after gaining a rare human birth leads to delusion and cannot bring freedom from suffering.
