Livelihood, Virtuous Association, and Ethics of Giving

Educational Q&A

When rightful recognition and the proper allotment of shares are established according to dharma, conflict subsides and harmony is restored. Even powerful beings accept order when it is justly arranged.

After Brahmā declares and arranges that Śiva should receive a portion in the sacrifice, Śiva assents with “tathāstu,” smiles in satisfaction, and receives the sacrificial share exactly as Brahmā prescribed.
