Royal Duty: Protection, Penal Policy, and the Hayagrīva Exemplum
नाकालमत्ता: खगपन्नगाश्न मृगद्विपा: शैलमृगाश्न लोके । नाकालत: स्त्रीषु भवन्ति गर्भा नायान्त्यकाले शिशिरोष्णवर्षा:
nākālamattāḥ khaga-pannagāś ca mṛga-dvipāḥ śaila-mṛgāś ca loke | nākālataḥ strīṣu bhavanti garbhā na yānty akāle śiśiroṣṇa-varṣāḥ ||
Vyāsa nói: Ở đời này, chim chóc và rắn rết, thú rừng và voi, cả loài nai nơi núi cao cũng không trở nên cuồng loạn nếu chưa đến đúng mùa của chúng. Phụ nữ không thụ thai trái mùa, và mùa đông, mùa hạ cùng mùa mưa cũng không đến trước thời hạn đã định. Vì thế, trật tự của thời gian chi phối muôn loài; người ta nên hành động với nhẫn nại và phân biệt, chớ vội vàng hay làm điều rối loạn.
