एक: शास्ता न द्वितीयो<5स्ति शास्ता गर्भ शयानं पुरुषं शास्ति शास्ता । तेनानुयुक्त: प्रवणादिवोदकं यथा नियुक्तोडस्मि तथा वहामि
bhīṣma uvāca | ekaḥ śāstā na dvitīyo 'sti śāstā garbhaśayānaṁ puruṣaṁ śāsti śāstā | tenānuyuktaḥ pravaṇādivodakaṁ yathā niyukto 'smi tathā vahāmi ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Chỉ có một Đấng Cai trị—không có đấng thứ hai. Chính Đấng ấy điều khiển cả kẻ đang nằm trong bào thai. Theo sự an bài của Ngài, hữu tình đi về hướng Ngài muốn—như nước theo lẽ tự nhiên chảy xuống chỗ thấp. Cũng vậy, ta gánh lấy phần việc đã định cho ta, theo mệnh lệnh và thúc đẩy của Đấng Chúa tể ấy.”
