Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
पृथिवीमार्तरूपां ते समपश्यन् दिवौकस: । दानवैरभिसंस्तीर्णा घोररूपैर्महाबलै:,समूचे भूमण्डलमें भयानक रूपधारी महाबली दानव फैल गये थे। देवताओंने देखा, यह पृथ्वी दानवोंके पापभारसे पीड़ित एवं आर्त हो उठी है
pṛthivīm ārta-rūpāṃ te samapaśyan divaukasaḥ | dānavair abhisaṃstīrṇā ghorarūpair mahābalaiḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Chư thiên nhìn thấy chính Địa Cầu như thể bị nỗi thống khổ giáng xuống. Khắp vòng tròn thế gian, nàng bị tràn ngập và rải đầy bởi những Dāṇava đại lực mang hình tướng ghê rợn; và Đất Mẹ, gánh lấy sức nặng tội lỗi của chúng, hiện ra bị áp bức và đau đớn—một điềm báo cho cơn khủng hoảng đạo lý, đòi hỏi sự phục hưng của dharma.”
