Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)
क्षत्रं स्वर्ग कथं गच्छेच्छस्त्रपूतमिति प्रभो । संघर्षजननस्तस्मात् कन्यागर्भो विनिर्मित:
kṣatraṃ svargaṃ kathaṃ gacchec chastrapūtam iti prabho | saṃgharṣa-jananas tasmāt kanyā-garbho vinirmitaḥ ||
Nārada nói: “Tâu chúa thượng, ‘Làm sao giai tầng chiến sĩ (kṣatra) có thể lên cõi trời, được gột sạch bởi sự chạm của binh khí?’ Vì thế, để khơi dậy chính cuộc xung đột ấy—để họ được ‘thanh tẩy’ qua chiến tranh—một đứa trẻ đã được tạo tác từ bụng một thiếu nữ chưa chồng, hầu trở thành kẻ gieo mầm tranh chấp.”
