इति सा शकुनी वाकक््यं पञ्जरस्था तपस्विनी । अतिदुःखान्विता प्रोक्त्वा भर्तारं समुदैक्षत,इस प्रकार पिंजड़ेमें पड़ी हुई वह तपस्विनी कबूतरी पतिसे यह बात कहकर अत्यन्त दुखी हो पतिके मुँहकी ओर देखने लगी
iti sā śakunī vākyam pañjarasthā tapasvinī | atiduḥkhānvitā proktvā bhartāraṃ samudaikṣata ||
Thế rồi, nàng chim tu hạnh, bị giam trong lồng, đã thốt ra những lời ấy trong nỗi thống khổ sâu dày. Nói với chồng xong, nàng ngước nhìn lên gương mặt chàng—đợi lời đáp giữa cơn sầu não và mối bận lòng về đạo nghĩa.
भीष्म उवाच
