निमन्त्रयीत सान्त्वेन सम्मानेन तितिक्षया | लोकाराधनमित्येतत्‌ कर्तव्यं भूतिमिच्छता

Transliteration

nimantrayīta sāntvena sammānena titikṣayā | lokārādhanam ity etat kartavyaṁ bhūtim icchatā ||

Translation

Bhīṣma nói: Vị vua cầu thịnh vượng và thành tựu quyền uy phải mời gọi người đời về phía mình bằng sự khuyên nhủ dịu dàng—nói lời tử tế, tôn trọng họ, và chịu đựng gian lao với lòng nhẫn nại. Đó chính là điều gọi là “thu phục thiên hạ” (giành được thiện cảm của dân), và người mong quyền thế hưng thịnh nhất định phải thực hành.
