मनसा भावगम्भीरो मार्जारं वाक्यमब्रवीत् | बिलावके द्वरा इस प्रकारकी स्तुति की जानेपर भी चूहा अपने मनसे गम्भीर भाव ही धारण किये रहा। उसने मार्जारसे पुनः इस प्रकार कहा-- || १९० इ ।।
manasā bhāvagambhīro mārjāraṃ vākyam abravīt | bilāvake dvarāḥ | sādhuḥ bhavān śrutārtho 'smi prīye ca na ca viśvase |
Lomaśa nói: Con chuột giữ tâm trí nghiêm cẩn, không hề dao động, rồi lại nói với con mèo: “Này huynh, quả thật huynh là người hiền; ta đã từng nghe người ta nói về huynh như vậy. Điều ấy làm ta vui lòng—nhưng ta không thể tin huynh. Dẫu huynh có ca tụng ta bao nhiêu, dẫu huynh có rải của cải vì ta bao nhiêu, nay ta cũng không thể kết giao cùng huynh. Người trí và bậc học rộng, nếu không có cớ thật cấp bách, chẳng tự đặt mình dưới quyền kẻ thù.”
