Gautama–Yama Saṃvāda: Mātṛ-Pitṛ-Ṛṇa (Debt to Parents) and Śubha-Loka Attainment

भवत्‌ तपोविघधातो वा यदि स्याद्‌ विरमे ततः । यदि वास्ति कथायोगो योडयं प्रश्नो मयेरित:

bhavat tapovighadhāto vā yadi syād virame tataḥ | yadi vāsti kathāyogo yo 'yaṃ praśno mayeritaḥ |

Bhīṣma nói: “Nếu việc ta hỏi han có thể làm trở ngại cho khổ hạnh (tapas) của các ngài, thì ta sẽ lập tức dừng lại. Nhưng nếu các ngài có thì giờ đàm đạo, xin hãy giải quyết điều ta đã nêu. Ta muốn được nghe thật rõ về nguyên nhân của niềm hy vọng và mức độ chân thực của năng lực mỗi người. Vì các ngài luôn chuyên chú vào tapas, xin hãy cùng tụ hội và bàn luận việc này.”
