Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद
नीलोत्पलदलश्यामश्नतुर्वष्ट श्वतुर्भुज: । अष्टपान्नैकनयन: शंकुकर्णोर्ध्वरीमवान्
nīlotpaladalaśyāmaś caturdaṃṣṭraś caturbhujaḥ | aṣṭapān naikanayanaḥ śaṅkukarṇordhvaromavān ||
Bhishma nói: “Hào quang thân thể của Ngài sẫm đen như cánh sen xanh. Ngài có bốn ngà và bốn tay; tám chân và nhiều mắt. Tai như những chiếc cọc, và lông trên thân dựng ngược.” Lời miêu tả ấy gợi nên một hình tướng vừa uy nghi vừa đáng sợ—để người nghe cảm nhận sức mạnh áp đảo và nỗi kinh hãi có thể đi kèm những quyền lực ghê gớm trong vũ trụ đạo lý của sử thi.
