Gratitude, Discernment, and the Escalation of Power (Śvā–Dvipī–Vyāghra–Nāga–Siṃha–Śarabha Itihāsa)
ततो दृष्टवा स शार्दूलो नाहनतू् तं विशाम्पते । सतुश्चा व्याप्रतां प्राप्प बलवान् पिशिताशन:
tato dṛṣṭvā sa śārdūlo nāhanat taṃ viśāṃpate | sa tu śvā vyāpratāṃ prāpya balavān piśitāśanaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: Hỡi bậc chúa của muôn dân! Rồi sau đó, con hổ thấy nó mang hình dạng giống mình nên không thể ra tay giết. Nhưng con chó, khi đã đạt đến thân phận hổ, trở nên mạnh mẽ và bắt đầu ăn thịt. Câu chuyện nhấn mạnh rằng sự biến đổi bề ngoài có thể đổi thay hành vi, và quyền lực một khi có được rất dễ dẫn người ta đến bạo lực nếu không bị dharma kiềm chế.
