Gaṇānāṃ Vṛttiḥ — On the Sustenance and Cohesion of Assemblies
Gaṇa-nīti
तस्मात् संघातमेवाहुर्गणानां शरणं महत्
tasmāt saṅghātam evāhur gaṇānāṃ śaraṇaṃ mahat | jāti-kula-samānatve 'pi na sarveṣām udyogo buddhir rūpa-sampattiś ca samā bhavati | śatravaḥ gaṇa-rājyeṣu bheda-buddhiṃ janayitvā kecid dhana-dānenāpi sarva-saṅghe bhedaṃ kurvanti | tasmāt saṅgha-baddhatā eva gaṇa-nāgarikāṇāṃ mahāśrayaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Vì thế, chính sự liên kết chung được tuyên xưng là nơi nương tựa lớn lao của các thị tộc. Dẫu người ta có thể ngang nhau về xuất thân và dòng dõi, vẫn không thể đồng đều trong nỗ lực, trí tuệ, hay trong của cải của sắc đẹp và phồn vinh. Kẻ thù gieo tư tưởng chia rẽ giữa công dân của một gaṇa, và chỉ cần hối lộ một vài người cũng có thể xé toạc cả liên minh. Bởi vậy, kiên trì giữ vững đoàn kết là chỗ dựa tối thượng của công dân trong một gaṇa.”
