अहो जीवितमाकाडुक्षेन्नेद्शो वधमर्हति । सुदुर्लभा: सुपुरुषा: संग्रामेष्वपलायिन:
aho jīvitam ākāṅkṣen nedṛśo vadham arhati | sudurlabhāḥ supuruṣāḥ saṅgrāmeṣv apalāyinaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Than ôi, mọi loài đều khao khát giữ lấy mạng sống; vì vậy, một người như thế không đáng bị giết. Quả thật, trong cõi đời này, những bậc trượng phu không quay lưng trong chiến trận là vô cùng hiếm có.”
