भीमसेनस्य कौरवसुतवधः तथा श्रुतर्वावधः

भीमसेनस्तु तान् दृष्टवा नागान् मत्तगजोपम: । करेणादाय महतीं गदाम भ्यपतद् बली
bhīmasenas tu tān dṛṣṭvā nāgān mattagajopamaḥ | kareṇādāya mahatīṁ gadām abhyapatad balī ||
Sañjaya nói: Thấy những dũng sĩ hùng mạnh ấy—được ví như voi bởi sức lực—Bhīmasena, chính mình như chiến tượng đang say cuồng trong cơn nộ chiến trường, liền nắm lấy một cây chùy khổng lồ trong tay và xông thẳng tới với sức mạnh không gì cản nổi. Câu kệ làm nổi bật làn sóng quyết tâm giữa cuộc chiến, nơi dũng khí cá nhân và sự hung mãnh có kỷ luật được dồn vào đòi hỏi tức thời của bổn phận trên chiến địa.
