भीमसेनस्य कौरवसुतवधः तथा श्रुतर्वावधः
Slaying of Kaurava princes and the fall of Śrutarvā
तत्रैकबाणनिहतानपश्याम महागजान् । पतितान् पात्यमानांश्व निर्भिनज्नान् सव्यसाचिना
tatraika-bāṇa-nihatān apaśyāma mahā-gajān | patitān pātyamānāṁś ca nirbhinna-jñān savyasācinā ||
Sañjaya nói: “Tại đó, chúng ta thấy những chiến tượng hùng vĩ bị hạ chỉ bởi một mũi tên—kẻ đã ngã, kẻ còn đang liên tiếp bị quật xuống—thân xác chúng bị xé toạc bởi Savyasācin (Arjuna).” Câu kệ nhấn mạnh sự hiệu quả rợn người của võ nghệ nơi chiến địa: quyền lực và sinh mạng có thể bị dập tắt trong khoảnh khắc, nhắc người nghe về gánh nặng đạo lý nghiêm trọng của chiến tranh, dẫu được tiến hành nhân danh bổn phận.
