Adhyāya 21 — Duryodhanasya bāṇavarṣaḥ
Duryodhana’s Arrow-Storm and the Dust-Obscured Engagements
चापवेगबलोद्धूतान् मार्गणान् वृष्णिसिंहयो: । आकाशे समपश्याम पतजड्भानिव शीघ्रगान्,वृष्णिवंशके उन दोनों सिंहोंके धनुषके वेग और बलसे चलाये हुए शीघ्रगामी बाणोंको हम आकाशगमें छाये हुए टिड्डीदलोंके समान देखते थे
cāpavegabaloddhūtān mārgaṇān vṛṣṇisiṃhayoḥ | ākāśe samapaśyāma pataṅgān iva śīghragān ||
Sañjaya nói: “Chúng ta thấy trên không trung những mũi tên lao vút, được phóng đi bởi sức mạnh và tốc độ của cung hai vị anh hùng như sư tử thuộc dòng Vṛṣṇi, trông như bầy châu chấu phủ kín bầu trời.”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores how overwhelming martial power manifests in war: skill and force can fill the very sky with weapons, reminding the listener of the vast, impersonal momentum of battle and the peril it brings to all.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that two mighty Vṛṣṇi warriors are releasing volleys of arrows with such speed and force that the arrows seem to swarm in the sky like locusts.
