Brahmaśirastra-pratisaṃhāra — Retraction and redirection of the supreme weapon
Sauptika Parva, Adhyāya 15
True victory is not merely success in conflict but success aligned with dharma; a righteous king like Yudhiṣṭhira refuses to conquer through adharma, even when provoked by anger or circumstances.
Vyāsa offers a calming benediction—urging the listener’s anger to subside and wishing health for the Pāṇḍavas—while affirming that Yudhiṣṭhira, as a rājarṣi, seeks victory only through righteous conduct.
