Bhīṣma–Śiśupāla-saṃvādaḥ
Bhishma and Shishupala’s exchange in the assembly
धर्म चरत माधर्ममिति तस्य वच: किल । पक्षिण: शुश्रुवुर्भीष्म सततं सत्यवादिन:
dharmaṁ carata mādharmam iti tasya vacaḥ kila | pakṣiṇaḥ śuśruvur bhīṣma satataṁ satyavādinaḥ ||
“Hãy hành theo dharma, chớ hành theo adharma”—đó là lời nó thường nói, người ta kể lại vậy. Ôi Bhīṣma, các loài chim cứ luôn nghe lời khuyên ấy từ nó, kẻ vẫn tự xưng là người nói lời chân thật. Nhưng ý của câu chuyện là: việc làm của nó trái hẳn với lời rao giảng—nó dạy người khác sống ngay chính, còn bản thân lại sống khác đi.
